UPGRADING CLUSTERQUE FROM PREVIOUS VERSION

Users who want to upgrade ClusterQue have to stop the NT/2000 printing service on the server running ClusterQue.
You will need an updated ClusterQue CD or the file called updatetoXX.zip (XX is the version number) from LBM or your HP resource.

Option 1) Stopping the Spooler Service/Print Spooler

You can stop the ClusterQue ports by going to Windows Services and stop the
Spooler Service for Windows NT or Print Spooler for Windows 2000

***IMPORTANT***: Users CANNOT use ANY local or shared printer on the local server while you are upgrading ClusterQue using this method. After you have upgraded you must start the service again and resume printing processes.

Option 2) Stopping the ClusterQue Ports manually

  1. Stop ClusterQue Service (UniQuePrintService)
  2. Connect any ClusterQue printer to a different printer port (We suggest you to use the FILE port). This is a temporary change until you complete the upgrade.
  3. Go to Printers (Start- Settings – Printers)
  4. Right Click the ClusterQue Printer name and select Properties.
  5. Select the Ports Tab. You will see the ClusterQue Port selected. Change the port to FILE
  6. Apply the change. Please do the same steps for all ClusterQue printers already defined.

FILE UPGRADE
  1. Open a DOS Command Prompt and go to the following directory:

  2. From this directory run the command:
  3. PrintMonitorinstall remove

  4. Now Insert the new ClusterQue CD and run the Setup program or Unzip updatetoXX.zip in the sfu/usr/spool/uprint or interix/usr/spool/uprint directory
  5. Click okay to overwrite files when prompted.
  6. Finally, copy uniquent.dll and uniquentmonitor.dll to the windows/system32 directory.

The installation program for upgrading ClusterQue will copy the new executables and libraries. The upgrade process will not delete any previous printer, form, clusters or server configuration.

After the installation, you need to do one of the following:

Option 1) Restart the Spooler Service (NT) or Printer Spooling (2000)

OR

Option 2) give back to each ClusterQue printers their ports and start the UniQuePrintServer service again.
